Scarlet Pixel are delighted to feature, and make available for purchase on our Website, some of the art work of John Kitchen. John is a practising artist who delights in pen and ink drawing and in common with many artists with this specialism he frequently works in just BLACK and WHITE. It is fascinating that in a world where we are surrounded by colour, that people are often attracted to the contrast and simplicity of BLACK and WHITE images. Even BLACK and WHITE photography is making a come back!
John was born in Bedfordshire in the United Kingdom in 1963, and still lives
and works in the area. As a completely self-taught artist, his preferred
medium is an ink technical pen, although he also works in oil and water
colours. John's main interests include motor vehicles and aircraft and not
surprisingly these often form the subject and inspiration for his work.
Cartooning is also one of John's favourite pastimes.
It will come as no surprise that such a talented artist has had much of his work published in various publications and he carries out numerous works for industry. Scarlet Pixel have also commissioned John to produce some of the illustrations that we use on our Website and in our printed literature and we are most grateful to John for his contribution. One of John's most memorable moments came in 1994 when he was selected as one of the 100 finalists of a competition that he had entered and one of his paintings was auctioned at Sotheby's of New Bond Street, London.
